The good folks at Mark Batty Publisher recently slung us a copy of Noma Bar's new book, Negative Space, and it's a humdinger.
Noma is one of the best illustrators at work today, and you can hardly have failed to come across his brilliantly witty and economical designs in The Guardian, The Economist and Esquire.
The book is basically a portfolio piece, mainly consisting of full page illustrations, with a short introduction from Buzz Poole (managing editor at Mark Batty). There are a series of spreads at the back of the book which feature pages from Noma's sketchbooks, which are fantastic, and it would have been great to see more of these, and at a larger size - but that's a minor quibble about a book that is chock full of graphic wit. Well good.
